South Korean wins Dag Wirén price

Hae Min An, winner of the Dag Wirén Prize 2017 in Orléans

There are only two piano competitions in Europe for young pianists in contemporary music, namely in Orléans in France and in Fribourg in Switzerland. During the past few years, the Dag Wirén Foundation has been involved in both of these by awarding a special prize to the young pianist who has been chosen by the jury as the best performer of music by Dag Wirén.

The competition in 2017 took place in Orléans on 6–9 April. Only those who participated in the third and highest class could compete for the Dag Wirén Prize. The jury decided to give the prize to 17-year-old Hae Min An from Seoul Arts High School in South Korea. She was also awarded the Prix d’excellence and received special congratulations from the jury for her excellent performance.

The next competition will take place in Fribourg on 1–3 June 2018 and discussions are under way between the Foundation and the leader of the competition to continue the cooperation.
