Every two year a piano competition in contemporary music for young pianists is organised in Fribourg, Switzerland. The 8th competition took place on June 4-5 this year. The 30 participating pianists in the age between 6 and 18 years came from 9 countries. The arranger of the competition is Mr Michel Runtz, Association Jeune-Musique, and it was held in the aula of the music conservatory of Fribourg. President of the jury was Rena Shereshevskaya from Russia.
The Dag Wirén Foundation has made a cooperation with the competition in form a special prize to the pianist who performs music by Dag Wirén the best. The jury decided to give the prize (300 CHF) to Antoine Arnold, 14 years from Switzerland, who performed Ironiska småstycken op 19 no 5. The prize was given to him by the chairman of the board of the Dag Wirén Foundation, Roland Sandberg.
