Dag Wirén prize in international piano competition in Orléans

Anne-Cécile Rouillier, vinnare av tävlingen

In Orléans, France, an international piano competition in contemporary music is organised for young pianists. April 2015 was the first time it was possible to be awarded a prize for the best performance of piano music by Dag Wirén. The Foundation has started a special collaboration with this competition. A handful of young pianists competed for the prize and the winner was 16-year-old Anne-Cécile Rouillier from Blois, France. She played Adagio and Presto from opus 35. She also performed a piece by Dag Wirén at a concert in Paris on 20 June that was arranged for the winning pianists.

The organiser of the competition, Mme Thinat, was very satisfied with the participating pianists this year. According to Mme Thinat, the level has never before been so high. The president of the jury, Mr Runtz, also arranges a similar piano competition in Switzerland every two years. He has also become interested in including Dag Wirén in his competition, so discussions with the Foundation have now started on this subject.

The Dag Wirén Foundation has declared to the competition organisers in Orléans that it is willing to continue its participation, so we are looking forward to returning to this competition.
